MistaJam played ‘The Eve of The War’ on his Saturday Radio 1 & 1Xtra simulcast show.
After the play MistaJam said, “We were just talking in the studio about the first time that we heard the original ‘War Of The Worlds’ (he makes a raspberry sound), that’s basically what it made me do, aliens are coming, aliens are coming. That’s Drumsound and Bassline Smith taking the new ‘War Of The Worlds’ to a Drum & Bass realm. Liam Neason never sounded so ravey.”

Charlie Sloth is a genuine online phenomenon! Not the product of a marketing strategy meeting in the boardroom of a major record label. His ideas are his own and his strategy was born out of a frustration with such companies and those around him. His story optimises the d-iy ethic that drove the essence of hip hop in its earliest period, but he’s managed to drag it effectively into the 21st century.
With the creation of his own webcast ‘The Charlie Sloth Show’ which he directs, films, edits, produces, markets and stars he’s managed to create a massive amount of online heat not only in this country but across the Atlantic and throughout the rest of Europe!!
The show is broadcast once a week and is an amusing look at Charlie’s own day to day struggles as an independent artist. In it he plays all the characters, there’s the Manager, The street team, the producer, the video editor, the web designer and Charlie the artist. All roles he fulfils in his actual day to day life brought together and characterised for the purpose of the show.
The first series was broadcast on World Star Hip Hop a US based online hip hop video hosting site, by the third or fourth show Charlie was receiving over 1.5 million hits a week!!!! So much was the buzz generated by the show that a Mr Curtis Jackson better known as 50 Cent soon launched a series of shows in which he also played all the characters that followed the exact format, coincidence hmmm possibly??
So having built up this immense following its time for Charlie to focus some of his attention [what little time is not spent filming the show] back onto his music. January 2010 will see the release of his first single ‘One More Drink’. Produced by Dominic Owens [Notorious BIG, Lil Kim, Maxwell, Damage, Rakim, EPMD and many more] the track is Charlie at his best, it’s the kind of thing Slick Rick would have written if he had chosen North London over New York!
It’s the classic tale of boy meets girl, boy takes girl to the pub, boy has one too may, girl gets accosted by stranger, boy’s not too happy about his new loves unwanted attention, boy starts fight in said pub, girl goes home alone, boy tries to drunkenly apologies through the medium of song, that kind of thing…

The single also gets its first play on Semtex’s 1Xtra show this Friday night. Tune in!
‘One More Drink’ is out on Charlie’s own Grimey Limey label on the 18th January 2010, the album will follow in early summer. You can catch the 2nd Series of the ‘Charlie Sloth Show’ at Charliesloth.com each week.
