There’s a great new interview with Kenny Thomas talking in-depth to Soul Jones about his long career in music, as well as the current album Breathe.

Says Kenny on the album:

“In every sense it’s my baby. On my label – from inception to conception to reception, it’s my thing.  I’ve always enjoyed freedom (on previous albums) and have never really experienced too much of the negative stuff that you hear other artists getting subjected to at their record companies. But with this album, I decided what went on and the order of play; what stayed and what got pulled off.”

COOL MILLION – We Can Work It Out – new single

Here is the second single from the forthcoming album COOL MILLION III. This time the featured vocals come from those lovely WestCoast Soul Stars Janine Johnson & Eli Thompson

These is yet another fantastic slice of retro soaked soul from Rob & Frank - and leads into an album which will emerge as the soundtrack to your Summer. 

The record features collaborations with some of the UK’s finest – including CHIDI , NATASHA WATTS ,LAURA JACKSON and MONIQUE THOMAS – amongst others.

This is without doubt the strongest album release from the boys – and they will be here later year for very select dates.

With Cool Million, Tom Glide, Soul Talk and Westcoast Soulstars all coming together to give you a night you won’t forget, time to put on those dancing shoes and get a group of friends organised, with 5 venues across the country you will experience a night filled with Modern & Classic Soul.

Soul On The Road will kick off on 7th March in Margate, 8th March in Glasgow, 9th March in Stockport, 10th March in Newcastle and finally 11th March in London.

SOTR wants to promote new talent and share their music with soulful ears. An organic idea that grew with all involved because of their mutal friendships, with various gigs already having gone extremely well it was the next step to take this family of bands on the road.

DEFLORISTICS feat Laura Jackson – “Because Of You”

The two founders of Cool Million (Rob Hardt & Frank Ryle) join forces on a new exciting house music project as The Defloristics. The duo’s first release, is the beautiful single Because Of You featuring Laura Jackson.

The single will be backed up by a full album in early 2012, featuring various vocalists.

The concept for The Defloristics is pretty much in the same vain as with the two gents Cool Million project – only this time the two are aiming for a soulful house sound with elements of jazz and bossa as well.

This release come with 3 mixes, including a laidback summer bossa mix (Brazilian Waxing Mix), perfect for the loungebar or livingroom.

Cool Million’s Rob Hardt is in the UK for a whistle-stop visit to talk about the forthcoming Christmas at Sed Soul album, featuring Eugene Wilde, Ann Sexton, Robert Walker, Peggi Blu, and Noel McKoy (whose cut This One’s For You has been earmarked as a single!).

COOL MILLION are double award winners!

Congratulations to Cool Million who won gongs for Best Global Artist/Group AND Best Soul Album for Back For More at last Saturday’s Soul Survivors Awards 2010!

Each award was voted for by readers of the Soul Survivors magazine … so it’s great to see so much love for the boys and their album out in the soul world! 

Also, much love goes to Teena Marie, who won the Best Soul Concert award for her now LEGENDARY show at London’s O2 in January!

Meli’sa Morgan has been speaking to the fantastic soulmusic.com about her amazing career and working with Cool Million on the Back For More album!

Here’s a taster:

“Actually, Frank from Cool Million approached me first, and he actually approached me on Myspace — which, you never think those things work, but they really do. He found me on Myspace and we started talking, and then he emailed me the song, and I wrote some lyrics to it, and we arranged that when Rob, who was the actual producer came into town, that I would go into the studio with him and do the song, and that’s how it came about. It’s a wonderful thing…”
