Congratulations to Sade for winning a Grammy Award on Sunday night!
The award was for Best R&B Performances By A Group for the track Soldier Of Love. The hit single Soldier Of Love is taken from her latest album, also titled, Soldier Of Love.
Congrats also to John Legend, Usher, and Esperanza Spalding for their much-deserved wins!
Following the platinum selling success of Soldier of Love, Sade announces their highly anticipated return to the world’s stage. The UK leg begins on 27 May in Manchester, before visiting Birmingham and London.
Tickets go on sale Monday 18th October at 9am.
Sade will perform over 70 concerts in top arenas across the globe next year, in an effort to reach her vast and loyal fan base. Their classic sound set to haunting, unmistakable vocals creates the most intimate of concert experiences in a way that only an unforgettable Sade performance can.
Sade’s last tour was in 2001 where they performed for more than 1,000,000 fans across the US. However, her British fans have waited much longer.
In fact these rare dates will give fans their first opportunity to see Sade perform live since their last UK date at London’s Royal Albert Hall back in May 1993, 17 years ago.
Sade will perform songs from their collection of timeless hits – ‘Smooth Operator’, ‘No Ordinary Love’ – and ‘The Sweetest Taboo’ as well as songs from their critically acclaimed album, ‘Soldier of Love.
Worldwide, ‘Soldier of Love’ has proven to be a smash selling over three million copies. The album skyrocketed to number one in countries including the US, Canada, Switzerland, France, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Poland, Greece, Japan, Portugal and Spain.
Entertainment Weekly featured ‘Soldier of Love’ in their “Must List” and gave the album an “A”, Rolling Stone wrote, “it’s unimpeachably excellent,” and The Boston Globe calls it, “a rich and rewarding album.” But the accolades don’t stop there. Associated Press raved, “like a long-ago lover not quite forgotten, Sade has returned to steal our hearts with more beautiful, uncategorizable music,” Billboard was quoted as saying, “it’s been 10 years since Sade released an album, but be forewarned – the giant has awoken,” while People Magazine reminds us that “Sade remains the voice of comfort to the wounded heart.”
Known for their one of a kind timeless sound, Sade has enjoyed phenomenal success both in the UK and internationally throughout the span of their twenty-five year career.
Since the release of their debut album, ‘Diamond Life’ in 1984 the band has seen all five of their studio albums land in the Top 10 on both the official UK Top 40 and US Billboard’s Top 200 Album Charts selling a total of more than 57 million albums worldwide to date which has made Sade the highest selling British female artist of all time.
They have also been nominated for several American Music and MTV Video Music Awards and won a Brit Award – Best Album for ‘Diamond Life’, and three Grammy Awards – first in 1986 for Best New Artist, then in 1994 for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group for ‘No Ordinary Love’, and again in 2002 for Best Pop Vocal Album with ‘Lovers Rock’.

We’re expecting to hear plenty of great comments on Sade’s amazing new video for Babyfather now that it has dropped.
US Magazine are first on the case with their raves, saying:
“…Sade — ageless, timeless and gorgeous — is letting her hair down to attempt such menial tasks as cooking, washing dishes and doing laundry all before serving Jello molds to the neighborhood kids.
Hey, who said the 51-year-old doesn’t have some secrets tucked away in the same vault where she keeps her smooth soul sounds like those heard on her reggae-tinged single “Babyfather”?
… get prepared to be lulled into her smoky spell once again.”
Sade.com have exclusively revealed the artwork for forthcoming single Babyfather, and here it is!
Stunning, no?
The site also reports that the single is set for (U.S) release June 7th, with the video on iTunes from the 4th as a 48 hr exclusive, before being available elsewhere.
Can’t wait to see the new video – more news as we get it!
