UK urban music continues to grow and as part of this growth comes the very talented Lafayette Josephs .

East-ender Lafayette realised her talent for singing at the tender age of 12 when she performed at Hackney Empire’s “291” where she sang her own song!

Lafayette continued to sing and at 16 became a member of a girl group, although the girl group did not last, she was noticed by a string of UK producers such as Ruelin Riley, Guy Simone, Jason Kaye, and producer/songwriter Yoyo, for her soulful sound and vocal style.

Lafayette went on to do a number of vocal sessions over the years but it was at a writing session in 2009 which brought her to the attention of producers Chris Patrick and Funkiipapa.

Lafayette’s inspiration comes from a wide range of singers old and new such as Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, En Vogue, Brand New Heavies, Sade, Syleena Johnson and Jazz singers Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan to name a few.
Lafayette’s music speaks for itself; her vocals are raw, with uninhibited power very reminiscent of the great soul vocalists of old.. ..making her one of the most anticipated artists this year.
Listen to the forthcoming single Bruised here:

Killer, right?

Already causing a stir on the dancefloor, we hear that Bruised remixes are set to drop imminently. More news coming soon…
