MICHAEL JACKSON – Hollywood Tonight video!

March 10, 2011

Michael Jackson’s Hollywood Tonight video has arrived … and it doesn’t disappoint!

The storyline of Hollywood Tonight charts the journey of a young woman arriving in Hollywood from small town America as she follows her dream to be a star; though her ambition is to be a dancer, her story represents the struggle for every artist or musician struggling to make it in the world.

Wayne Isham, who directed the video for Michael Jackson’s You Are Not Alone, returns to one of the very same locations where he filmed in 1995 with Michael – the Pantages Theatre near the famed corner of Hollywood and Vine that has served as a beacon for those drawn to the dream of stardom. In the new video, the Pantages Theater once again becomes the setting for the clip’s spectacular closing but this time they are outside the theater for a “flash mob” dance scene.

MICHAEL JACKSON – Hollywood Tonight!

February 1, 2011

‘HOLLYWOOD TONIGHT’ – the new single released March 7th

‘MICHAEL’ – the album out now

The second official single from Michael Jackson’s album MICHAEL has been confirmed as ‘Hollywood Tonight’.

Written by Michael during the time of the INVINCIBLE album, Michael pulled the track out of the archives in 2007 to work on the song with producer Ron “Neff-U” Feemster.  The track was written by Michael Jackson (spoken bridge by Teddy Riley) and produced by Michael with Teddy Riley and co-production from Neff-U.

It follows lead single “Hold My Hand”, a duet with Akon, which gave Michael his 55th UK top 10 smash hit single extending his run of UK top 10 hits to 40 years.  It is the second single to be lifted from the album MICHAEL which is the fastest selling new Michael Jackson studio album in the UK since 1991’s DANGEROUS and was certified platinum within one week of release.

It has the extraordinary confidence of a pop classic and presages an album that may well be Jackson’s best work since his Eighties glory days.” Neil McCormick, Daily Telegraph

MICHAEL is the first release in nine years of new material by one of music’s most beloved icons whose artistry continues to touch new generations of fans. The album marks another release under the new agreement between the Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony Music announced in March that continues the label’s 35-year relationship with Michael and his music. During that time, Michael sold hundreds of millions of records, had 13 US #1 singles and released the pop culture phenomenon “Thriller,” which remains music’s all-time bestselling album with more than 100 million copies sold worldwide.

TEDDY RILEY interview in Blues & Soul!

December 14, 2010

Hot off the press!

Blues & Soul have come up trumps with this brilliant interview with the don, Teddy Riley, talking extensively about his production duties on the just-released Michael Jackson album Michael.

On the difficulties of trying to produce a record that would reach Michael’s high standards, Teddy says:

“It was very difficult because the Michael that we know would always say “go back” so when you hear go back do it over you would like hold your head in your hands. Even when you think you have finished he would be like “that needs to be touched” or “it is not great”. So I was making five versions out of one song to find a track that was “great”.”

It’s a moving and fascinating read.

MICHAEL JACKSON is a Record Breaker!

December 9, 2010

The 29,070 sq ft poster smashes the previous record by more than 100 sq ft.

London, UK (9 December 2010) – Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking, today confirms that a poster erected to mark the release of Michael Jackson’s ‘Michael’ album (released 13th December) has set a new record as the world’s largest poster.

Guinness World Records confirmed that the poster of Michael Jackson’s ‘Michael’ measures 171ft by 170ft with a total surface area of 29,070 sq ft, smashing the previous record – held by the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver – by more than 110 sq ft.

To put it into perspective, the ‘Michael’ poster would take over three quarters of the pitch at Wembley Stadium, is longer than the equivalent of six Routemaster buses end-to-end and if upright would be higher than Nelson’s column.

The poster, made of PVC and weighing one ton, took engineers three hours to install – and is less than 3,000 metres from one of Heathrow’s main runways, literally viewable by all planes arriving/departing.

Guinness World Records requires the world’s largest poster to be publically displayed and formed of one single piece of material; it must also advertise a commercially available product. Guinness World Records sent an official adjudicator to the site situated at Rectory Farm in Middlesex to officially verify and measure the ‘Michael’ poster.

Tarika Vara, Guinness World Records adjudicator, said: “This is a massive achievement and it brings me great pleasure to confirm that with this new world record, Michael Jackson’s ‘Michael’ has earned its place in history. The poster has not only achieved incredible scale but it has combined this with intricate detail and having seen it up close I can confirm that the quality of the image is fantastic. Michael Jackson already holds a number of Guinness World Records and we are thrilled to award another title to the King of Pop.”

The image of the album cover of ‘Michael’ was created by painter Kadir Nelson in 2009. In the original oil painting, Kadir – who is known for story telling through his art – takes us on a journey through some key moments and important people in Michael Jackson’s life.  ‘Michael’ is the much-anticipated album of newly completed recordings by the King of Pop.

The poster will stay at what will be known as ‘Michael’s Field’ until 23rd December, after which, the poster will travel via sea container into continental Europe where it will be toured and displayed.

Michael Jackson’s Guinness World Records include:

– World’s best-selling album for ‘Thriller’

– Highest annual earnings for a pop star from 1989 and this record remains unbroken 21 years later

– Most hit singles on UK singles chart in one year in 2006 when Michael had 19 singles in the UK Top 40
