SUNSHINE in SJF!

December 16, 2010

Another great new interview with Sunshine Anderson, this time courtesy of Charles Waring and the SoulJazzFunk website!

Says our girl on working with producer Mike City:

“Mike City taught me that simplicity can be so much better than trying to make things so hard. Do what your heart tells you, you know. For me, the beat tells me what the song is gonna talk about. And that’s what I mean when I say I learned structure from Mike: knowing where to climax the record and where not to. It’s just great watching him and seeing him progress.”

Black Sheep talk to SUNSHINE ANDERSON

December 15, 2010

The interviews keep rolling!

Check out this great feature with Sunshine Anderson in the new issue of Black Sheep mag.

Says Sunshine:

“…with the title I was thinking how can I really reflect on who I am and what’s happened in my life and how happy I am and the new place that I am in? I didn’t want people to think that I was so angry or upset. I just let them know: “look, the sun shines again – I’m back, let’s move forward.” I can’t wait to get to the fourth album where I can change things up a bit and really make a blueprint.”

SUNSHINE ANDERSON interview

December 14, 2010

Check out this great new interview with Sunshine Anderson talking about the new album The Sun Shines Again to soul.music.com.

Says Sunshine about theme of the album:

“… I didn’t set out for this album to be a relationship album, I just did what felt good. I tell people, “You can’t talk about sunshine and happiness—if it ain’t sunshine and happiness.” People always say, especially the guys, “Why are you so hard on us, and why you this, and why you that?” You have to speak from your heart first, okay? It’s like… I’m a person that… I have to cry, okay? I have to cry and I have to get that good cry out first, and after that, then I can see clearly. Then, okay, “now what we gotta do, Sunshine?” So you’ve got to get the hurt and the pain out first before you can have hope.”

SUNSHINE ANDERSON talks to Blues & Soul

December 7, 2010

Hot off the press is this GREAT interview with Sunshine talking to Blues and Soul about the new album The Sun Shines Again!

On teaming-up with producer Mike City, she says:

“Mike knows what true RnB is. You always hearing about music infused like RnB infused with hip-hop. Why does music always have to be infused with something else, why does it have to be Neo Soul I still have not figured out what Neo Soul is. I am a true RnB artist and Mike City allows me to be that…I do not think I will ever do this without Mike. I do not think I will ever do an album without Mike on it. I am not sure what it is but when Mike and I get together we make magic.”

Soul Tracks review SUNSHINE ANDERSON

December 2, 2010

There’s a great write-up of the new Sunshine Anderson album The Sun Shines Again in Soul Tracks.

They write:

“It’s been a hectic and heart-wrenching decade for Ms. Anderson, but with music like this, the past shouldn’t have the power to eclipse her future as one of her generation’s most soulful conveyors of contemporary R&B. Catchy, yet cathartic, this third time is the charm and proves that even in the midst of darkness, true talent can prevail and eventually, The Sun Shines Again. Highly Recommended.”

Loving that!
