CHIDI – new album EXHALE drops May 2012

March 14, 2012

UK Soulstress Chidi prepares for the release of her second album Exhale this coming May.

An accomplished singer/songwriter, Chidi has toured on b/v’s with Stevie Wonder , James Brown and most recent with Ms Bailey Rae …..and the Queen of disco Gloria Gaynor.

Her debut album UnRehearsed scored highly with the soul fraternity in 09, and the new record cleverly covers all the diverse aspects of what we call soul…..delivered from a reserved but bountiful vocal.

Exhale is already scoring a soul buzz, with cuts already being hailed by the likes of Snowboy , Chris Philips , Peter Young , SoulCuts  and Craig Charles.

Get a taste of the forthcoming album here with the gorgeous quality soul cut I Love It When We Talk.

NOEL GOURDIN – album review

February 14, 2012

Soul and Jazz-Funk have given a great 3/5 review for Noel Gourdin’s new album (Fresh) The Definition.

They write: “The album’s signature sound is best defined by ‘Brand New (Fresh)’. It has a warmth that sort of draws you in and the light keyboard fills are a perfect counter point to Gourdin’s soul filled vocals. It’s a beautifully blended song… all the elements gel. Ditto the catchy opening pair – ‘In Love’ and ‘Puppet’. The set features a number of strong ballads – notably ‘Been a Long Time’ and ‘Only You’. The former wears a magical lilt while the latter rides in on a churchy organ that could’ve been recorded at Hi.”

Some feelgood Brit Soul from URBAN STREET SOUL ORCHESTRA

January 25, 2012

USSO were formed in 92 – and this collective of talent included Daz-I-Kue, Don Ricardo, Hil St Soul, Steven Ville, Julie Smith and Paul ‘vibe’ C.

Some wicked singles hit the scene – and an album was recorded in 97 – but got shelved………….until now. Some brand new cuts have been recorded – but this ever so tasteful rework of the Roberta & Donny classic  is just dynamite.

Watch here:

The album Back Together Again is available digitally now, with a physical CD release set for February 13th.

New album from THE MIGHTY MOCAMBOS: ‘The Future Is Here’

October 19, 2011

“The verve of the late 60s … Extremely authentic …” (Playboy Germany)

In old Brazil, there were these stashes to hide from oppressing powers. The term Mocambo was originally used for secret places and housings as well as clandestine villages … and is nowadays a very popular name for hotels, cafés, bars, coffee, cigars & rum.

The Mighty Mocambos are inspired by Jazz, Deep Funk, Afro-beat and SoulSince the late Nineties they are busy releasing 7inch singles on their own Mocambo Records label.

Their recent album This Is Gizelle Smith & The Mighty Mocambos with guest vocalist Gizelle Smith gained international respect, especially in France, Japan and the UK, where they were invited to a couple of live sessions on BBC radio.

Now the guys have returned with a brand new album on Legere Recordings, The Future Is Here, featuring collaborations with Su Kramer, Afrika Bambaataa, Charlie Funk & King Kamonzi.
